I’ll be honest with you. Israel’s support from Christians has been a given, something that has been taken for granted for a long time. Especially in these tumultuous times, where it seems that most of the international community has been arrayed against her, Israel has always been able to count on the support of America in general and Christians in particular. The number of Christians united for Israel has always been in the majority in the church, not the minority.
But there is a virus spreading quickly. Honestly, most people don’t talk about it – they don’t even know it exists! That is the fact that for quite some time, support for Israel from Christians, notably some high profile megachurch leaders who shall remain nameless, has been dwindling. They have joined a movement that is sympathetic to a Palestinian narrative which calls the inheritors of the Promised Land “Occupiers.” This is an insult to God and His Word, which says clearly, “The LORD appeared to Abram and said, ‘To your descendants I will give this land’…” (Genesis 12:7) That’s Israel, the Promised Land, He is talking about, and God promised it to Abraham’s descendants forever. So regardless of today’s shifting political winds, I say, let God be true and every man be a liar! (Romans 3:4)
However I don’t want to dwell too much on that — because as bad as some of that is, there is something even more disturbing. It is the fact that even among those who claim to “support” Israel, their support stops at the edge of one political stripe of one sort or another. What I mean is that they focus only on a need for a political solution for Israel and not the real solution, which is spiritual – Israel needs Yeshua! Sometimes I see some who claim to be Christians united for Israel going so far as to state that Israel doesn’t need Yeshua, that it has a separate covenant. This is a false Gospel!
The Bible makes it clear that there is no distinction between Israel’s need for Yeshua and the Gentiles need for the same Savior. It’s the same Gospel for everybody regardless of pedigree. The Apostle Paul makes that clear when he states in Romans 1:16:”For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”
Does this sound like there are two plans for saving humanity, one for the Jews and the rest for the Gentiles? Absolutely not! If there were, what would we make of Yeshua’s mission if there were two “ways,” for He Himself said in John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Clearly, He did not give any special exemption to the Jews of His time for He said He is the only way to the Father. True Christians united for Israel recognize this fact.
His mission is embodied in His Name, Yeshua, meaning salvation in Hebrew. Let me be clear — God’s heart was and is for a spiritual salvation first! The political deliverance will come in the millennium but that is yet to come. We dare not make the same mistake that the Jewish religious zealots made when Yeshua lived on earth, expecting a political deliverance for Israel while ignoring the real need for a spiritual salvation!!
For that reason I ask you to join me in spreading the Gospel to millions of Israelis by being part of our Hear O Israel project. This is not just a catchy name to a project – through this one of a kind initiative, over 7 million Israelis already heard the Gospel in Hebrew, directly from the pure Word of God! Whether you’re a Jewish believer in Yeshua, or among the millions of genuine Christians united for Israel, we think you’ll agree that this is a worthy endeavor. And please, with every contribution, pray for Israel so that the lost sheep of the house of Israel would recognize their one and only true Messiah.
