Over the years, quite a lot has been said about the need for every believer to take part in evangelism. Yeshua saved us from the sting of sin and death and left us the mandate to share that good news with others. Praise God, believers in Israel are becoming more concerned about this divine commission. It gladdens my heart seeing fellow Israelis and great commission media ministries become more intent about putting out the Word via every digital space available today.
The Gospel is softening hearts in Israel, and more Israelis are coming to see Yeshua as the fulfillment of scriptures about the Messiah. However, knowing that we are in the end time, the devil is doing all he can to frustrate the furtherance of the Gospel there – but he is fighting a lost battle! Yeshua defeated the devil over 2,000 years ago when He died and was resurrected.
As believers, not only are we saved from our sins, we are also delivered from the devil’s grip (Colossians 1:13). Much more, we have all the power and authority we need to resist the devil and live victorious Christian lives. Trust me, our evangelistic efforts through both public outreaches and great commission media ministries will be more productive when we fully understand this truth.
In this article, we will be discussing the nature of authority and how it can help us in evangelizing the lost sheep of Israel. May your eyes of understanding be flooded with the light of God’s Word as we explore Scripture together.
The Believer’s Authority
Yeshua was a Man of great power and authority when He walked upon the earth. His ministry was marked by great power over the works of the devil. At His command demons fled and miracles took place. Even the Pharisees could not help but acknowledge this (John 3:1)!
In Luke 10, Yeshua sent out seventy of His disciples to preach the Gospel with His same power and authority. They had the same results as Yeshua! Even the demons were subject to them!
Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” (Luke 10:17)
Yeshua’s name was full of power. Someone once asked me, “But how can we be sure that the church has the same power today?” “What a brilliant question,” I responded. After all, Yeshua gave power and authority to His disciples, and they’re no longer with us today. So, what’s our hope in Jewish evangelism ministries today?
The good news is that Yeshua, our Messiah, is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). His name is as powerful as it was 2,000 years ago! His name has not lost its potency!
While explaining the reality of our redemption, Paul said God raised us together with Yeshua and made us both sit at His right hand (Ephesians 1:19-22; 2:4-6). Together we are seated with Yeshua in the heavenly places, far above all principalities, power, might, dominion, and every name that is named. Today, creative media ministries like ours are putting this same authority to use in the digital space.
Beloved, the devil is a defeated foe (Colossians 1:13). We have a Name that is above all else (Philippians 2:9-10). At the use of the name Jesus, the earth, heaven, and hell all stand at attention.
In Acts 3, Peter and John were going into the temple at the hour of prayer. As they arrived at the Beautiful Gate, they met a man who was lame from his mother’s womb. Hoping to get some money to meet his needs, the man asked them for alms. But, glory to God, Peter, with his God-given authority and power, gave the man what money could not buy.
Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. (Acts 3:6-7)
The man who had never walked immediately began to leap. This goes to show that the name of Yeshua will produce the same results today if we dare to put it to the test. Let this be your consciousness every time you have the opportunity to share the Gospel with someone. Even if all you’re doing is sharing digital content like our Israel music videos, trust the Lord for a supernatural manifestation of His power to soften the hearts of your audience.
God has given us all the authority and power needed to evangelize the lost. Inherent in us is the same power that raised Yeshua from the dead (Ephesians 1:19-20). We’ve seen this power open several doors for us as a ministry. I believe the same is true for other great commission media ministries too. In our next post, we will be discussing how to use authority in fulfilling the Great Commission effectively. Shalom!
