We’re taking back ownership of the phrase “from the river to the sea!” We’ve just written and recorded a love song to the land of Israel as if she were a woman, and the title of it is “From the River to the Sea.” It’s our way of saying, “I love you from A to Z.”
The Bible tells us that God gave Israel her land. We read this in Genesis 15:18, where God covenants with Abram, saying, “To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates,” and lists all the peoples of the land who are to be displaced. In Genesis 17:8, God says He gives Israel “all the land of Canaan for an everlasting possession.” And in Exodus 23:31, He says, “I will set your border from the Red Sea to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the Euphrates, for I will give the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you.”
There is no question that the land of Israel belongs to her. It was given by God, and God meant it for an eternal possession. God loves this land. He chose it as the backdrop of His life as God-in-the-Flesh, where He was born, grew, became a man, ministered, suffered, died and rose again, altering the course of history forever!
As much as He loves the land of Israel, we can tell you that the nation, the people of Israel, His sons and daughters, are far more important to His heart. God longs for the Jewish people to be saved, to know Yeshua and to receive Him as their promised Messiah. That’s why from the river to the sea, from Gaza to the border of Lebanon, from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, we want to share the Gospel with all of Israel!
